Job Description:Personal Lines Competitive Intelligence Research AnalystThe Hanover Insurance Group is seeking an experienced Competitive Intelligence Research Analyst working out of our Worcester, Massachusetts location for our Personal Lines Business Unit.This is a mid to upper level (market) product research position responsible for providing the business with key strategic Competitive Intelligence. This includes: Developing, analyzing, providing recommendations, and managing the pricing comparison process for key competitors in defined Markets, and within critical Market Segments. Develop, maintain, and report on Competitor strategies, results, and pricing trends. Complete quantitative analysis on competitor product offerings, and rate structures for core product lines, with recommendations for strategic product and pricing improvements. Handle additional ad hoc research as required.Responsibilities: Complete market research, (Pricing Comparisons), to enable the business to understand its competitive position in key markets and market segments. Maintain process to continually monitor competitive position, identify opportunities/threats, report findings, and provide recommended actions. Utilizing appropriate vendors’ trend competitor pricing changes, make observations, and report results monthly to Product and State management. Analyze key competitor pricing models, compare to company’s current model, identify opportunities/threats, provide results to product and research teams with recommendations. Analyze key competitors’ product features. Compare to company’s current product offering. Develop and maintain product offering comparison. Identify opportunities/threats. Make recommendations to Product Manager. Develop and maintain Profiles of key competitors including critical strategies, SWOT, Financial results, etc. When complete publish to Product and State Management teams. Prioritize and handle ad hoc projects with minimal supervision. Manage the relationship with the pricing comparison vendor and understand their pricing tool.Skills: Effective oral and written communication skills. Strong analytical skills. Knowledge of PowerPoint and Word. Knowledge of market research fundamentals. Advanced knowledge of Excel necessary, knowledge of Access or other database management software preferred. Ability to work with large datasets is essential. Self-motivated, innovative, driven. Experience: Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree, MBA preferred. 2-4 years experience in a market research role or 3-6 years of analytical business experience. Demonstrated writing and research ability. Experience managing vendor relationships Competitive Intelligence experience a plus Insurance Industry experience is a plus.
