Claims Specialist - Outside Commercial Property

Job Description:As an Outside Property Claim Specialist, this individual contributor will be responsible for the overall claim management of commercial property losses. Will be recognized as a technical expert in the interpretation of complex or unusual policy coverages in area of expertise. Under management direction, works within assigned limits of authority on assignments requiring a strong degree of technical complexity and coordination. Company car and lap top provided. Individual can work out of our downtown Chicago Home Office location, Lombard Branch, or remote from home. Job Responsibilities:1. Works on claim investigations, coverage determinations, subrogation potential determinations and damages. Individual will determine if a claim should be settled or litigated. 2. Manages all types of investigative activity on claims. 3. Negotiates settlement packages, sets reserves and authorizes payment within scope of authority, settling claims in most cost effective manner and ensuring timely issuance of disbursements. 4. Coordinates third party recovery with subrogation/salvage unit.5. Analyzes claim activities; prepares and presents reports to management. 7. Works with attorneys, account representatives, agents, and insureds regarding the handling and/or disposition of claims. 8. Keeps current on state/territory regulations and issues, industry activity and trends.Job Experience:Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:1. Strong knowledge of commercial building damage assessment and Business Interruption coverage and loss determination.2. Technical and product specific expertise, claim resolution skill and utmost proficiency in insurance and claim principles, practices and procedures. 2. Strong communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Must have the ability to effectively interact with all levels of CNA's internal and external business partners. 3. Advanced analytical and problem solving skills, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects.4. Ability to deal with ambiguous situations and issues. 5. Creativity in resolving unique and challenging business problems. 6. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software. Education and Experience Required:1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Professional designation preferred. 2. Minimum ten years Commercial Property Claim experience, including Business Interruption losses.3. CAT exposure desired.4. Company Car provided.
