COST MANAGEMENT DIRECTOR

Job Description:Job Summary – Director Cost ManagementLeads and directs medical cost management staff and activities to ensure national claim operation benefits from medical cost management strategies. Collaborates with leadership and directs teams to assure medical cost management goals of the functional areas are met. Directs regional or corporate-wide cost management projects to achieve strategic goals through use of internal and vendor services and products to optimize value of programs to medical cost spend primarily in Commercial Workers Compensation line of business. Responsible for successful delivery and execution of Medical Cost Management strategies, programs and initiatives.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:1. Leads and directs the work activities and has full management responsibility for the performance and development of subordinate staff in accordance with corporate strategic direction.2. Develops financial plans and budgets and establishes strategic and long-term performance goals, along with metrics to measure program effectiveness and ensure appropriate focus on continuous improvement strategies.3. Ensures strategic plan implementation is consistent with department/corporate goals, and drives impact of medical cost management programs.4. Establishes and maintains strong working relationships with internal and external customers. Works with business units to develop policies and procedures to best meet the business needs. Responsible for increasing impact of medical cost management programs across multiple-lines of business.5. Leads and participates in medical cost management projects and initiatives, including monitoring project progress, collaborating with multi-functional teams, identifying possible project issues and leading solutions to ensure successful delivery of projects.6. Participates in the selection and development of business requirements for service agreements and contracts with outside vendors7. Responsible for analysis and trending of medical cost spend and impact of medical cost management programs along with developing solutions to optimize impact of programs.8. Identifies, communicates with and oversees alignment of business requirements with Technology, Process and other functional areas.9. Monitors performance by assessing results, conducting quality reviews and assisting field offices achieve effective utilization of programs; including effective knowledge and training strategies to respond to performance, quality or new program implementation.10. Acts as liaison between CNA systems and vendor's systems areas. Acts as company-wide contact for medical cost management technology and data issues.Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required:1. Strong knowledge of the insurance industry and in depth knowledge of medical cost management product and strategies. In-depth knowledge of managed care products and vendors management and workers compensation.2. Proven ability to effectively lead and motivate others in accomplishing established goals.3. Strong strategic orientation and business planning skills with the ability to develop clear business plans aligned with business strategy and cost management services. 4. Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.5. Strong communication and presentation skills both verbal and written and interpersonal skills to manage vendor relations.6. Working knowledge of computer including Microsoft Office Suite and other business related systems.Education & Experience Required:1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.2. Minimum of 10 years experience in a managed care environment, including prior experience in project management with responsibilities for leadership and supervision of staff.Job Experience:Skills, Knowledge & Abilities Required:1.
