Assistant Sales Manager

We currently offer more than 50,000 regularly-stocked products to our customer base through a sales force of over 1,500 professionals.  Headquartered in downtown Cleveland, OH, Barnes Distribution is a $537 million global company with operations in North America and Europe.   We are currently seeking an Assistant Sales Manager to join our sales organization for the Orange County market. In this role, you will spend 60- 80% of your time in the field working with your sales team in the Anaheim and Orange County areas.  You will train, coach, mentor, develop your staff and lead them towards continued growth and success. This is an excellent opporutnity for someone interested in a  management trainee position.   Position Responsibilities: Under the supervision of the Sales Manager or Regional Vice President, you are responsible for generating sales growth in a definited geographic area. Implement sales and marekting plans for the assigned geographical area. Directly manage approximately 4 field sales employees/service representatives. Develop sales growth plans in conjunction with Sales Manager and Regional Vice President to ensure revenue and profit objectives are met Develop plans with the Sales Manager and Regional Vice President on an annual basis and as warranted to improve performance to meet sales plan and profit objectives. Ability to effectively communicate vision, plans, goals and objectives to subordinates to ensure effective execution and optimize productivity of sales professionals. Direct and control the activities of sales and service representatives within the region. Conduct phone screening and personal interviews for open and replacement territories in conjunciton with your manager and recruiting department. Provide leadership, direction and motivation for sales team to ensure full customer satisfaction.R Hire, train, coach and motivate subordinates to properly carry out the function of providing customers with the service desired in conjunction with human resources.  Evaluate subordinate development growth and provide effective performance monitoring and correction plans in conjunction with human resources. Provide appropriate monthly internal reporting to management as required.   Position Qualifications: Minimum four years of outside industrial sales experience. Four-year undergraduate degree or equivalent job experience required.  Demonstrated success in selling value-added products and/or services within the industrial and transportation marketplace. Strong maintenance, repair and operating (MRO) product knowledge. Excellent organizational, communication, leadership, motivation, coaching, listening and planning and problem-solving skills. Computer literate with an analytical ability to translate data into tactical field strategies. General working knowledge of financial and inventory management issues. High degree of integrity and abiility to develop customer relationships.
