Triangle United Way is a volunteer driven organization. United Way staff support this structure and are divided into six departments, which work to support the United Way mission - to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of community. Triangle United Way brings together local community partners in Durham, Orange and Wake counties: member agencies, nonprofits, government volunteers and experts to focus on lasting changes, not temporary fixes to key issues.
Position Summary:
The webmaster position will ensure the most effective use of Triangle United Way’s website through the use of current and emerging technologies to fulfill Triangle United Way’s mission and goals. Develop and enforce processes, protocols and workflows for managing content (new/existing pages, forms, downloads, images, etc.) and maintaining a consistent look and feel of branding throughout website. Contribute to setting overall web strategy for front-end experience, backend maintenance and strategic leadership in the management, and ongoing development and enhancement of website and intranet.
Required Knowledge/Skills:
1. Bachelor’s degree preferably with major course in information technology; a combination of related college course work and experience may be substituted.
2. Windows XP, MS Office 2003
3. Coding for Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari and other browsers in compliance with W3C standards including adherence to WCAG 2.0.
4. FTP, HTML/dHTML/XML, HTTP, CSS, Javascript
5. Adobe Applications: InDesign 3 DreamWeaver, Flash
6. Graphic design and webpage layout experience
7. Knowledge of database design concepts, computer hardware systems, operating systems.
8. Implementing web 2.0 technologies, including but not limited to: RSS feeds, blogs, wikis, podcasts, video streaming, surveys, social networking and other emerging user community-building techniques
9. Implementing and adhering to high standards of web security and user privacy
10. Demonstrated ability to work and communicate well with others at all levels of organizational hierarchy in order to ability to translate functional requirements into technical design and development projects.
11. Excellent organization, project management and time-budgeting skills to manage multiple, deadline-sensitive projects with ease and attention to detail.
