Morgan Memorial Goodwill Industries (Goodwill) is seeking a Vice President of Workforce Programs and Community Services.  Goodwill is a complex, dynamic, growing $25 million not for profit corporation that provides exemplary job training and related services to help individuals with disabilities and other barriers to self-sufficiency to achieve independence and dignity through work. Not charity but a chance. 

 

This senior executive position reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer and is responsible for Goodwill’s broad range of job training and related programs, youth services and community outreach.  The Vice President is responsible for implementing the organization’s strategy related to the provision of these services.  The incumbent oversees a complex operation with multiple programs, sites and funding sources.  The Vice President has responsibility for program operations, quality management, budgeting and financial management, data management related to programs, government grant development and government funder relations.  The incumbent will be required to develop strong relationships within the local community and to develop collaborative working relationships.  The incumbent will work closely with the other members of the executive team to promote Goodwill’s mission.  This will involve coordinating and collaborating with the operators of Goodwill’s social enterprises that provide real work opportunities for program participants and the Director of Boston Career Link, the one-stop career center Goodwill operates. The Vice President of Workforce Programs and Community Services will also interact with the board of directors and staff the Board Program Oversight Committee.

 

Candidate Qualifications:

·        The ideal candidate will be have at least 10 years of extensive program operation experience with a minimum of 5 years as a senior executive overseeing multiple programs and managing managers.  Experience in job training or working with individuals with disabilities preferred.

·        A bachelor’s degree required.  Graduate degree or professional certification preferred.

·        A commitment to the core mission of Goodwill and an abiding passion for helping individuals move out of poverty and move to independence.

·        An extensive community network; an orientation to collaborate; and the ability to develop, negotiate and operate programs with other community based organizations.

·        Experience in government proposal/grant writing, funding management and funder relations;

·        Strong financial management skills with the ability to develop, manage and oversee the implementation of a complex and challenging budget.

·        Strong analytic skills; a track record in improving processes and procedures; and experience in effective collection, use and management of program information.

·        Demonstrated ability to create and maintain effective and cohesive partnerships with other members of the executive team and comfort working within a team environment.

·        Proven leadership and extensive management skills, demonstrated effectiveness in accomplishing work by delegating as well as personal contribution; ability to coach and develop staff; and experience managing change and leading the organization into the future.

·        Strong communications and relationship management skills, professional demeanor and ability to thrive in a diverse environment. Ability to communicate effectively (orally and in writing) with individuals at all levels.  A sense of humor.
