Telecommunications Specialist

Purpose

Responsible for domestic/international telecommunications activities including: development of policies, budgeting, planning, ordering, and maintaining voice, data and cellular contracts in support of IFAW’s global network.

 

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

·         Assists in vendor management and contract negotiation with network and technical support vendors to deliver quality services to support IFAW’s Global Telecommunications.

·         Build strategic long-term relationships with vendors to assist with corporate goals and objectives.

·         Stays advised of industries latest offerings and provide ongoing strategic recommendations and solutions on how to optimize our existing telecommunications resources.

·         Assures that the organization stays on the most cost-effective offerings within contract terms.

·         Responsible for maintaining contract inventory.

·         Management of voicemail systems, including administration, reporting and backups.

·         Develop, maintain and enforce telecommunications policies.

·         Works with global telecommunication vendors to ensure service levels are met and standards are adhered to.

·         Investigate and advise on new/advanced capabilities to leverage investment.

·         Assist in preparation, review, and consolidation of the global telecommunications budgets.

·         Produce reports that analyzes monthly usage/expenses. Recommend changes accordingly.

·         Work with vendors to resolve discrepancies in monthly billing.

·         Handle communications outages with vendors and technical staff.  Follows escalation and resolution procedures to resolve problems in a timely fashion.

·         Participates as a team member in major systems projects.

·         Other duties as required by manager.



Job Requirements

·         5+ years related work experience implementing and maintaining WAN, voice and cellular services.

·         Knowledge of phone and voicemail systems (preferably Avaya 8500 and Intuity voicemail).

·         Strong organizational, verbal, written and project management skills.

·         Strong vendor management, escalation and problem resolution methods.

·         Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of staff, orally, graphically, and in writing to facilitate the understanding of technical issues and IFAW operational requirements to non-technical staff.

·         Must possess a strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
