Teacher, - After School Program
The Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service is one of Brooklyn’s oldest and largest non-sectarian social services agencies. The Brooklyn Bureau, which presently serves more than 10,000 individuals annually, is committed to a broad and diverse range of services including prevention of foster care placement; crisis intervention; early childhood and after school education; and vocational training, job placement, and clinical services.
Gary Klinsky Children’s Centers (GKCC) provide after-school learning opportunities to children from low-income families, who attend some of New York City’s lowest performing schools.
GKCC provides hands-on lessons to children through multi-sensory activities and are provided in the context of academically stimulating themes. GKCC enhances children’s reading, writing, and math skills, and helps them to develop their creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm for learning. The GKCC program is offered every weekday from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at four public elementary schools and one middle school located in various areas of Brooklyn.
Responsibilities:
Part-time teaching positions, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Work with an assistant teacher to provide academic enrichment. Student Teacher ratio is 1 to 10.
Requirements:
Teaching Experience, Current or former licensed teacher or NYC Board of Education classroom teacher preferred. Background in music, drama, dance, photography, crafts, sewing and the arts a plus. Must enjoy working with children.
