Public Affairs and Policy Assistant

The Massachusetts Housing Partnership (MHP) is looking for a unique individual who combines strong communication skills with an interest and experience in housing policy and research.

 

The Public Affairs and Policy Assistant will report to the Director of Public Affairs and will also work closely with MHP’s Executive Director.  He or she will provide research, writing and other staff support to help MHP develop and communicate new housing initiatives to housing professionals and local officials. This person will also monitor the organization’s performance and provide reports to its board of directors.

 

Responsibilities: Provides staff support to Director of Public Affairs and Executive Director in communicating MHP’s message through web and written materials as necessary and/or requested. Conducts research, analysis and writing as assigned, with a focus on housing policy and program development. Assists in the compilation, production and editing of accurate and complete materials presented to the Board of Directors. Assists in developing and implementing performance measurement within MHP (i.e., tracking and reporting on agency goals) as necessary and/or requested. Assists the Director of Public Affairs on day-to-day communication needs such as returning phone calls, updating the web site, writing and editing news releases, educational and marketing materials for MHP’s customers as necessary and/or requested. Performs other tasks as assigned to achieve the mission of MHP.

 

Qualifications: Bachelors degree Demonstrated interest in affordable housing and community development and/or communications Excellent research, writing and interpersonal skills Proficiency with spreadsheets, database, document creation Relevant job experience strongly preferred
