JOB PURPOSE:



This position reports to the Director of Systems Analysis and Research and is responsible for enhancing, expanding, and maintaining the FUSION software system.

 

FUSION, the largest public facility database of its kind, supports the management and planning of more than 60 million square feet of college facilities located on 110 California community college campuses, tracks $2 billion in facility condition assessment findings and is used to review $500 million in annual capital plans.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in establishing and implementing rigorous standards for upgrading mission-critical software Responsible for the software maintenance, incremental enhancements and overall system upgrade through planning, requirements definition, solution design, development, testing, implementation, documentation and maintenance Based on detailed specifications from senior requirements analyst, responsible for  the design, development, testing, implementation and future maintenance of new software modules using Visual Studio .NET in Visual Basic or C# running on SQL Server Partner with senior requirements analyst and systems hardware specialists to forecast future hardware/environmental needs, software and overall system architecture Enhance integration of facilities data systems both within the current system and across other large data systems. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related technical field required Minimum of 2 years relevant experience

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED Demonstrated experience with software development lifecycle to include: defining requirements, database design, application design, writing documenting code, testing, implementing and maintaining both new and legacy software Ability to apply systematic approaches to managing a mission-critical system. Specifically, the ability to effectively define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions Excellent communication, prioritization, organizational and interpersonal skills required Outstanding analytical and problem solving skills essential Ability to work effectively in a team based environment Strong interest to learn new technologies Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships among all levels of an organization Experience with configuring and maintaining a SQL Server Experience in Web application development required using HTML, Java Script and ASP Proven background in Visual Basic and/or  C# essential Experience with Microsoft .Net Framework & Visual Studio required Familiarity with Dot Net Nuke (DNN) Framework a plus Knowledge of Citrix/Meta Frame is beneficial Experience with SOA (Service Oriented Architecture) Exposure to E.T.L. (Extract, Transform and Load) preferred Utilization of version control tools (e.g., Visual Source Safe, Vault) essential
