Program Assistant - International Development

The Program Assistant will provide a wide range of administrative duties for the DC office of the Center for International Health (CIH), a division of the International Development Group (IDG) at RTI. This position will support CIH’s (primarily USAID-funded) work in malaria, neglected tropical diseases (NTDs), and health policy. This position will be based in Washington, DC.

 

Responsibilities:

- Coordinates office space for visiting NC staff or outside consultants;

- Orients new employees to RTI’s procedures and systems;

- Responsible for coordinating internal and external meetings for the malaria, neglected tropical diseases, and health policy technical teams. This may include booking rooms, ordering refreshments, coordinating schedules and meeting invites, preparing agendas, and taking meeting minutes;

- Coordinates and tracks frequent project-related travel and accommodations (primarily international) and coordinates visa and other travel requirements;

- Manages project calendars for the malaria, NTD, and health policy technical teams;

- Assists in the development of project presentations and other materials;

- Updates the NTD project website and coordinates production of project brochures; 

- Contributes to the capture and dissemination of information on project activities, outcomes, best practices, and lessons learned;

- Tracks and researches new business opportunities in international health;

- Prepares a monthly analysis of CIH’s budget using a standard template;

- May assist in uploading CVs into the recruitment database; inviting new consultants to join the recruitment database; and identifying new websites for posting international health job openings;

- Responsible for other administrative tasks as needed;

- Sits at the DC CIH office’s front desk and greets incoming visitors.

 

Requirements:

-  B.Sc. or B.A. Degree in a health, international studies, communications, business or a related field;

- Minimum of 1 year of relative administrative work experience, preferably for an organization that manages projects in developing country settings;

- Ability to interact with staff at all levels in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, and be proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism;

- Excellent oral and written communication skills;

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail;

- Demonstrated interest in international health;

- Prior experience working, studying, or traveling in developing countries a plus;

- Experience using GIS software, managing website content, or using Microsoft Access a plus;

- French, Spanish, or Portuguese language skills a plus.
