MAILROOM ASSOCIATE
A non-profit institution located on the upper west side of Manhattan, has an opening for an experienced Mailroom Associate. This position reports to the Mailroom Supervisor, and will be required to work alternate Saturdays.

Job Responsibilities: Processing Mail and Packages:
 Sort and distribute U.S. Mail and special mails (Fed Ex, UPS, Parcel Post, etc.). Maintains files, logs and records on all incoming and outgoing mail. Deliver mail and packages to each department and / or person. Sort and stamp outgoing mail. Operate various postage and copy machines. Prepare for mailing Certified, Registered, Insured articles, etc. Pick up outgoing mail and interoffice mail from each department or pre-established drop area as required. Utilize software mail applications where applicable. Use equipment and supplies in a cost efficient manner.

Job Requirements:
 At least 2 years of previous experience working in a mailroom.        Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills required. Must be able to communicate and interact effectively with diverse backgrounds. Excellent organizational skills required. Requires ability to meet deadlines in an environment with changing priorities. Ability to handle sensitive and/or confidential materials a must. Attention to detail. Good problem solving skills necessary. Must be experienced working with various postage & office machines (copiers, faxes, scanners, etc.) cleaning supplies & toner.

Ergonomic Requirements:
Requires regular usage of computer which entails repetitive finger, hand and wrist movement; primarily work requires ability to frequently change position from standing, walking, sitting up to 8 hours a day.   Â
