Lead Toddler Teacher
Position Title: Lead Teacher (Toddler)
Department: Education
Reports To: Education Program Manager
Supervises: Indirect Supervision of Assistant Teacher
Status: Fulltime
Job Purpose: The Lead Teacher will be responsible for overseeing the education of children in a specific classroom and be responsible for the indirect supervision of classroom activities of assistant teacher. The lead teacher plans and carries out appropriate activities for children, insures the safety and well being of children as well as maintains records on children’s performance. The lead teacher will interact with parents, conduct parent conferences as appropriate and perform all duties in accordance to the mission and vision of the organization.

· Communicates regularly with education program manager regarding classroom/education issues.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Prepares weekly lesson plans that reflect the developmental needs of children in classroom.
· Responsible fro the daily upkeep of the classroom.
· Serves as a role model for the assistant teacher.
· Uses appropriate discipline techniques with children.
· Maintain appropriate documentation on children and families being served in ECC programs.
· Attends staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
· Makes daily observations of children’s behavior and records significant changes and achievements.
· Communicates regularly with supervisor on children and educational issues
· Works with supervisor to develop the necessary tools to measure the success of program initiatives and goals.
· Initiates supply requests through education program manager.
· Conducts daily head count and provides daily report to education program manager.
· Works as a team player within the organization.
· Collaborative team effort in designing recruitment and retention efforts with education program manager.
· Performs other duties as needed.
· Performs all duties within the mission and vision of the organization.
Qualifications:
Associate degree or higher in the area of Early Childhood Education with at least 5 years experience in an educational setting; minimal CDA with critical focus, (as it relates to continued employment), on earning their Associate degree by 2009. Excellent written and oral communication skills; strong interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and respond effectively with diverse cultures and backgrounds; flexible and adaptable, computer literacy a plus.
