Latino Learning Institute Manager

CLUES a premier provider of behavioral health and human services to the Latino community is searching for a Latino Learning Institute Manager  to join the team. 

 

SUMMARY:  Coordinate the three components of the Latino Learning Institute educational program:  the adult ESL program (including basic computer skills, Spanish literacy and citizenship test preparation classes), the volunteer management and the overall management of the program (budgeting, supervision, leadership).   Expands the Institute’s current educational programs by creating new partnerships with other organizations that aim to provide services to the Hispanic community.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

1.       Manages and provides supervision to the coordinators in the English as a Second Language program in addition to the other classes provided.

2.       Assists and guides in the recruitment and training of volunteers.  Maintains relationships with volunteer sources (such as colleges and universities).

3.       Reviews periodically the program’s impact and program procedures.

4.       Assists in the intake, placement testing, and periodic assessment of all students.

5.       Assists in the compilation and report data on attendance, demographics, testing, and evaluation.

6.       Promote the mission, operating values and agency services of CLUES within the community.  Cultivate working relationships with service collaborators, and other appropriate stakeholders.

7.       Participate in all internal and external activities required as stated in program contracts.

8.       Manages the short-term and long-term planning, implementation, evaluation, and reporting of mission –related outcome-based education programs. 

9.       Attend all staff meetings, department meetings and other meetings with partners and promote participation among the staff.

10.   Carry out all other duties as assigned by the Director of Economic Advancement.

 

SUPERVISORY RELATIONSHIPS:  This position supervises both the Minneapolis, and St. Paul LLI Coordinators.

 

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education and/or Experience:  Bachelor's degree from a four-year college in TESL/TEFL, Adult Education, Applied Linguistics, or related field and 1 - 3 years non-profit experience.

 

Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate program policies, procedures, and agency values in Spanish and English, both verbally and in writing.  Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from students, funders, employees, managers, and the Board of Directors. 

 

Cultural Competency:  Must have an understanding on Latino culture, including an understanding of cultural views around education and learning.

 

Mathematical Skills:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

 

Reasoning Ability:  Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

 

Technical Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have experience with or knowledge of word processing software; Internet and e-mail software; satellite and other equipment required in offering classes.

 

Transportation:  Must have a valid driver’s license, access to a vehicle, and automotive insurance.
