Seeking an Information Technology Support Specialist

 

Our Information Technology Support Specialist is a member of the Information Technology Client Services team; responsible for providing superior customer support and service for desktop related hardware, software, and network.

 

All qualified candidates must have at least 3+ years of experience in providing Desktop Support in a professional corporate environment. Candidates must have experience troubleshooting, maintaining and providing technical support to desktop and laptop users. Candidate must have extensive knowledge and hands-on experience supporting Windows 2000, XP, and Microsoft Office products. Strong knowledge of MS Outlook is required.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

·  Resolves hardware, software, and basic network problems timely and efficiently with minimal disruption to our Business Partners. Coordinate hardware repairs with vendors when appropriate.

·  Provides courteous and professional phone and desk side support. Gather pertinent information about problems/requests. Enter the incident into Help Desk request tracking system.

·  Completes desktop related projects as assigned (e.g., hardware upgrades, office moves, operating systems upgrades, application updates, etc).

·  Installs/configures personal computer related hardware and software according to schedule, scope of objectives, and standards.

·  In coordination with Systems Administrators, assist with network software installation and testing, hardware upgrades, network and server problem troubleshooting.

·  Provide fundamental training and assist end-users in the effective use of their computer system, navigating through W2K/XP, the use of Microsoft Products (Office, Outlook, etc.), and in-house developed applications.

·  Independently resolve operational problems and questions regarding both hardware and software.

·  Perform preventative maintenance; includes inspection and cleaning of workstations, printers, and peripherals.

·  Provide first level support for in-house developed applications.

·  Create, organize, and deploy base images using Norton Ghost.

·  Complete weekly system data backups. Coordinate with vendors for tape deliveries and pickup. 

·  Maintains accurate documentation and inventory on computer hardware, software, and audio visual equipment.

·  Support on-call schedule and respond to priority incidents as needed.

·  Setup and test presentation equipment and materials in conference room, orientation room, and central station for application training, orientations, workshops, company wide all employee meetings, etc. Ensure video conference connectivity issues before meetings.

·  Perform daily checks on exam video availability using audio/visual application.

·  Perform other duties as required by supervisor.



 

 

Required Skills and Competencies:

 3+ years of desktop support experience. 3+ years of Windows 2000/XP experience. A solid understanding of network protocols and configurations (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, LAN, WAN).Strong familiarity with multiple peripherals (e.g. printers, scanners, etc.), their use and desktop integration.Ability to work independently with little to no direct supervision. Flexibility; ability to react and respond timely to off-hour emergencies. Strong Initiative and Attention to Detail skills. Strong Conceptual Thinking skills; ability to exercise good judgment in determining work priorities and approaches to problem solving.Sound Organizational and Creative Thinking skills.Must be a Team Player with outstanding Interpersonal and Communication skills.Ability to lift and move up to 80 pounds on a consistent basis (e.g. computers, monitors, printers, etc.), able to walk (to end user stations) and bend (to install and connect equipment).

 

Minimum Educational Requirements:

·  Bachelors degree or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:

·  COMPTIA A+, MCP, MCSE, MCDST, Dell DCSE certifications are a plus.
