Group & Onsite Sales Manager

The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) is the premier encyclopedic museum of visual arts in the western United States.  Established in 1965 as an independent institution, the museum has assembled a collection of approximately 100,000 works from around the world, spanning the history of art from ancient times to the present.  Through its far-reaching collections and extensive public programming, the museum is both a resource to and a reflection of the many cultural communities and heritages in Southern California.  The museum draws hundreds of thousands of visitors annually and has 85,000 adult members and 60,000 child members.  It is accredited through the American Association of Museums.

 

Reporting to the Director of Membership Marketing, the Group & Onsite Sales Manager is responsible for maximizing revenue in two main areas: Group ticket sales and Onsite membership sales.

 

Some duties include: develop a plan an yearly budget; build and maintain relationships with national and international visitor bureaus; attend tour group conferences; maintain tour operator database; develop all marketing materials (direct mail, brochures, e-mail, etc.); develop group packages with hotels and cultural institutions in Los Angeles area; work with volunteer manager and volunteers to staff membership tables; work with Welcome Center staff on special membership offers; develop premiums for onsite membership conversions; supervise, train, and review Welcome Center volunteers and paid staff.

 

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, Marketing, or Communications and two to three years experience in group sales and tourism, marketing, copy writing, design and print production. Budgeting, generating reports, tracking goals, and customer service is required. The successful candidate will possess strong organizational and interpersonal skills, and the ability to multi-task to meet established deadlines.  A working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet and/or database software is required. Availability to work weekends is a requirement.
