Government Grants Manager

One of New York City's three public library systems, Queens Library has been the highest circulating library in the U.S. for more than a decade, serving a population of 2 million in one of the nation's most ethnically diverse counties. The Queens Library system, consists of 62 community libraries, with over 1300 employees and a Central/Corporate Library.  The Queens Library system is well recognized for its innovative advances in technology, community programs and services.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

We are currently looking for a Government Grants Manager who will research potential public service funding sources. Assess and align program needs with grants. Coordinate the preparation of proposals to prospective donors. Ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with donor requirements and Library guidelines. Maintain a comprehensive calendar of donor and internal deadlines and requirements to make certain that Queens Library consistently adheres to grant- processing protocols. 

 

This dynamic person will also be responsible for managing day-to-day task including follow-up with program staff, monthly reviews of grants budgets in SAP; attending monthly meetings and reviewing all fiscal documents coded to grants (travel request, program agreements, and invoices). Liaison with NYS Dormitory Authority and elected officials on the status of paperwork of capital grants. Attend grant-funded community meetings (e.g. advisory committee meeting for Juvenile Justice). Develop surveys with program staff for evaluation reports. Other duties as assigned.

 

Schedule may include evenings and weekends.

 

Bachelor’s degree required.  A minimum of 3-5 years direct and demonstrated experience developing successful city, state, and federal grant proposals and reports. Strong mathematical and analytical ability to assess and manage grants and budgets. Ability to work on multiple priorities and deadline-driven projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills including editing and proofreading. Ability to work independently and to be self-motivated. Highly proficient in MS Word and Excel.  Must have experience with databases.
