General Manager

The Charles Allis and Villa Terrace Art Museums (CAVT), located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is accepting applications for a full-time General Manager.  The CAVT Museums’ mission is to fully utilize the two historic house museums, their gardens and respective art collections for education and community enrichment.  As part of the Milwaukee County War Memorial Corporation, CAVT honors the war dead by serving as “living memorials”.  CAVT also serve as venues for public and private events. 

 

The General Manager is an adept administrator with the skills, energy and flexibility to supervise CAVT’s activities, programs and operations, including curatorial and exhibition functions, events and programming, building and ground maintenance, and marketing.  Working with a development specialist, the General Manager will also have input into fundraising and development opportunities.  Reporting to and working with the CAVT Board of Directors, specifically the Executive Committee, the General Manager will continue the ongoing development of awareness and relevance of the CAVT Museums within the local, tourism, museum and historical communities.

 

Applicants must have excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, organizational abilities, and initiative, as well as experience developing and directing a fully competent staff.  A college degree with emphasis in business and/or 10-15 years of relevant experience is preferred.  Knowledge of museum operations is a plus.
