Facilities Assistant

Responsible to :    Facilities Supervisor

 

Job Summary:  Performs preventative and corrective maintenance of all agency buildings and grounds as assigned.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  Conducts safety and health code inspections at all properties to assure compliance with municipal, county and state regulations. Diagnoses and repairs mechanical failures or breakdowns in motors, pumps, furnaces, refrigeration, air-conditioning, plumbing and similar equipment. Performs janitorial duties, lawn and driveway maintenance at the administrative office and other agency sites as requested or assigned. Assists Facilities Supervisor in training agency program staff in routine maintenance of agency properties.

 

Other Responsibilities:

  Snow and ice removal, grass trimming and other landscaping duties and office cleaning as assigned. Contracts with vendors to assure quality and availability of maintenance materials and supplies. On call for emergencies after normal business and working hours.

 

Qualifications:

 

Experience required working in areas of carpentry, heating cooling, plumbing, electrical and painting.  Must have mechanical knowledge of materials, supplies and tools.  Must be able to exercise independent thinking and good judgement under all circumstances and be culturally competent.  Must have a valid driver's license along with reliable transportation.

 

Working Conditions:

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, climb, squat, crawl, talk, and hear.  The employee is exposed to the elements in heat, cold, snow, and rain.  The employee must be able to ascend and descend a ladder and work up to twenty-five feet off the ground, operate motorized hand tools and lift up to sixty pounds without assistance.  Must have proper diction and command of the English language.

 

POSITION REQUIRES POST OFFER/PRE-EMPLOYMENT DRUG SCREEN, PHYSICAL, CURRENT ACT 33/34 CLEARANCES AND FBI FINGERPRINTS WITHIN 90 DAYS PRIOR TO HIRE, 21 OR OLDER, AND VALID DRIVER'S LICENSE UPON HIRE. E/O/E
