Executive Director

DUTIES:The Executive Director is responsible for managing both the staff and the financial resources of the Huntington Symphony Orchestra, a 501(c)(3) organization, in order to achieve its mission and goals.  The responsibilities include planning for future concerts,fund raising, concert production, marketing, and administrative leadership.  The Executive Director is the face of the Orchestra to the community and thus interacts with community and business leaders.  The current staff consists of a full-time office manager, a part-time personnel manager, and a part-time librarian.  The Executive Director works with the Musical Director to assure that preparations for all concerts are done in a timely manner.  The Director reports to the Board of Trustees of the Symphony.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree; business/administrative training; minimum of two years administrative/management experience; excellent written and verbal skills; computer skills to include Microsoft Office, Quickbooks, Excel, Internet; excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills; must be a team player; background in music preferred.

 



Huntington Symphony OrchestraThe mission of the Huntington Symphony Orchestra (HSO) is to provide for all persons an opportunity to experience and enjoy the excitement of both live performance symphonic and pops orchestra music and to promote opportunities for professional guest artists and talented young musicians beginning their orchestral careers.  The audience consists of the citizens of Huntington, WV, and those living nearby in the states of Ohio and Kentucky.  Marshall University, which has a music school, is located in Huntington.  The repertoire is representative of the historic masterworks for orchestra. The HSO comprises approximately 50 musicians under regular contract and other musicians who are paid per-service.The season consists of four classical subscription concerts, a Holiday Pops concert, three summer pops concerts, and a children's concert. The annual budget is $330,000. The HSO serves a population of 49,000 in Huntington and 300,000 in the Tri-State area (WV, OH, KY).
