Job Summary
The e-communications marketing associate works as an integral part of the marketing communications team to produce effective electronic marketing materials based on strategic objectives to meet the needs of internal partners. This position interacts with internal clients and requires electronic marketing experience, proven organizational skills, a particular talent for creative solutions, and a broad understanding of electronic marketing. The e-communications marketing associate understands and anticipates how decisions are made and persistently explores and uncovers the marketing communications needs of internal partners.
ResponsibilitiesEvaluates internal partners, lay leaders, and constituents’ needs and participates in developing customized approaches for target audiences that are consistent with organization’s overall strategic objectives.Defines and brings together all necessary resources to ensure a comprehensive and timely approach to each project.Coordinates and maintains e-blast calendar.Creates web versions of all e-blasts in accordance with organization’s style.Coordinates approval process, revises elements as necessary, and deploys all e-blasts.Creates e-blasts in Kintera/customer relationship management tool.In conjunction with relevant e-blasts, liaises with Digital Media team for production of online registrations, calendar pages, landing pages, donation pages, etc.Tests e-blast styles on various e-mail platforms (e.g., AOL, hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc.).Uploads and segments e-blast lists.Creates and distributes post-send reports (e.g., bounce back, click thru, etc.).Initiates and maintains ongoing contact with marketing team members and internal partners in order to ensure needs are understood and satisfied.Collaborates with other marketing teams to complete each project.Manages busy calendar of e-communication projects determined by the associate director or executive director.Develops variety of e-communication projects — all under tight deadlines.In response to specific marketing needs, convenes meetings with marketing team to discuss strategy or projects.Establishes appropriate deadlines and priorities, in consultation with the associate director and other marketing teams.Ensures projects are being completed on a timely basis in accordance with agreed upon schedules.Edits copy, which he/she is provided, for effective electronic communication. Anticipates problems and develops creative solutions.Promotes marketing communications initiatives through effective communication and creative positioning.Works with the associate director to define action plans and creates schedules to implement such plans.Performs all work-related services assigned by the associated director or executive director.Keeps the associate director informed on the progress of each project.
Qualifications and Requirements
1. Minimum one to three years proven, effective electronic communications experience with preference for those with marketing communications knowledge.
2. Ability to synthesize strategy, plans, and solutions while working in a dynamic, problem-solving environment.
3. Strong knowledge of HTML/CSS with the ability to hand-code and trouble-shoot.
4. Extensive experience deploying e-mails and e-newsletters.
5. Expert knowledge of Excel.
6. List-management skills.
7. Understanding of e-mail service providers (e.g. hotmail, yahoo, AOL, etc.) and how they display HTML.
8. Familiarity with spam laws and common practices.
9. Experience working with customer relationship management tools and content management systems.
10. Knowledge of Dreamweaver a plus.
11. Demonstrated ability to make effective presentations on electronic marketing strategies and approaches to a variety of audiences.
12. Strong organizational skills. Ability to edit and proofread electronic marketing materials.
13. Demonstrated ability to work under tight deadlines.
14. Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively and flexibly. Ability to provide a high level of service.
15. Bachelor’s degree required. Related field a plus.
