Position description:  University Settlement, serving over 20,000 low-income individuals and families each year with innovative programming, and its affiliate agency, The Door, New York City’s premier youth development agency, providing comprehensive services to 10,000 young people each year, seek a Director of Facilities to manage its rapidly growing sites. As a member of the senior management team, candidate would manage and oversee a combined facilities department.

 

Responsibilities:Oversee all facility issues The Door, University Settlement and University Settlement’s satellite locations Supervise the building manager at University Settlement and The DoorSupervise maintenance and security staff, including scheduling of hours, scheduling of vacation time, evaluating performance, ensuring proper maintenance proceduresMaintain HVAC systems, including overseeing service contractors and performing hands on repairsMaintain plumbing systems, including overseeing service contractors and performing hands on repairsOrganize and maintain a clean, safe, efficient and orderly premisesCoordinate and implement all fire code, and building safety requirementsCoordinate facility improvement projects and plans, including work performed by staff and by contractorsOrder, inventory and distribute all maintenance suppliesAssist in implementing and maintaining a recycling program Perform and/or supervise carpentry, electrical, locksmith, painting, and minor repair projectsMaintain elevator systems, including overseeing service contractorsServe as liaison to public authorities and agencies related to the fulfillment of the tasks abovePerform above tasks as they relate to The Door’s obligations to the 121 Sixth Avenue condominiumOversee the vehicles for University SettlementOther functions as assigned by Executive Director

 

Qualifications and Requirements:Possess and maintain all appropriate FDNY Certificates of Fitness: For The Door & University Settlement: Fire Safety Director FS58 preferred; Certificate of Fitness Interior Fire  Alarm F90, Sprinkler and Stand Pipe F98, Fire Guard FS 94 and Fire Drill Conductor FS 33 .

  Certificate for #2 Boiler #2 University SettlementBe available to handle emergencies and special situations requiring immediate attention Ability to work a flexible scheduleAbility to work as a member of a management teamAbility to use computers in the performance of appropriate tasks, WORD, OUTLOOK, EXCEL, VISIO etc.Ability to develop and oversee budgets related to responsibilities and tasksBi-lingual Spanish/English preferred
