Director of Career and Training Administration
Overview: The Door’s EPOCH program is the start of a new period in a young person’s life marked by radical change and new developments. EPOCH is designed to help a young person assess, set and obtain their educational and career goals. The program specifically allows a young person to craft a personalized career and education plan defining the steps he/she will take to achieve those goals while developing the necessary skills to attain independence.
Director of Career and Training Administration will develop and oversee centralized administrative systems for EPOCH programming. S/he will play a leading role in developing and coordinating systems that support: a) the smooth transition of young people into EPOCH services including intake and orientation; b) the tracking of young people’s achievements and awarding of related incentives; c) the building of internal and external alliances to increase young people’s access to EPOCH’s services; and d) the collection, organization and monitoring of EPOCH participation data to meet contract and program requirements.
Responsibilities:
· Oversee the development of a citywide referral network to increase young people’s awareness of and access to EPOCH’s education, career and supportive services
· Contribute to the design of effective marketing and outreach campaigns targeted to young people
· Refine and manage a dynamic orientation process that helps young people begin to assess strengths, identify life goals and select appropriate services
· Hire, manage and support the development of EPOCH intake, recruitment and supportive service staff
· Make contractual assignments; coordinate and certify young people’s enrollment in GED, job readiness and job placement activities; monitor their transitions across programs; and develop systems to ensure smooth reintegration into program services as necessary
· Develop protocol for centralizing documentation of participants’ milestone achievements across programs, and oversee distribution of related stipends and program incentives
· Coordinate qualitative case conferences to ensure implementation of standardized practice and to maximize support and services for young people
· Design and monitor student assessment tools and outcome measurements
· Collect and track all intake, orientation and contractual assignment data; monitor progress in meeting goals for young people’s entry into EPOCH programs; and prepare data for evaluation and reporting
· Develop and oversee a quality assurance process for data and file management, including but not limited to internal audits of database system and participant file
· Train and oversee staff’s entering of data as needed for contract compliance and program evaluation
· Collaborate with EPOCH leadership team to help ensure smooth integration of all program components
· Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team to increase services to youth and to continually make adjustments to provide the appropriate individualized program plans for each young person
· Demonstrate an understanding and practice of the principles of positive youth development
· Attend all relevant meetings, trainings, workshops and outside events
· Collaborate with interdisciplinary staff in the development and facilitation of agency-wide programming and events
· Handle any appropriate responsibilities and functions as assigned by managing director
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s Degree in social work, education, counseling or related field required. Master’s preferred.
· Previous work in youth development, workforce development, or education fields
· Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience
· Excellent oral and written communication skills
· Excellent program management skills
· Understanding of and ability to meet performance-based outcomes
· Computer literacy
· Enthusiasm, creativity and initiative
· Ability to adapt quickly to change and work within a results-oriented environment
· Demonstrated record in achieving results with low-income, urban adolescents
· Ability to participate as part of an interdisciplinary team
Hours: 35 hours per week
