Director Plant Maintenance
The Jewish Home, a skilled nursing facility with 430 residents, is seeking a Director of Plant Maintenance to join our Plant Operations Department. Position Overview
The Director of Plant Maintenance is responsible for the operation and maintenance for all mechanical and electrical equipment in the entire facility. This role is responsible for services, combining the functions of engineering and maintenance, by providing advice and service to administration regarding the needs of these areas. To ensure that the residents, staff, and visitors have the best possible physical conditions 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Essential Job Functions
·        Responsible for the supervision, operation, and maintenance of all mechanical, electrical, architectural, grounds and all other physical components of the campus 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
·        Schedules and directs all engineering and maintenance repairs and keeps comprehensive records
·        Directs and schedules outside contractors and ensures that all codes and regulations are being followed
·        In-services Plant Operations personnel in the proper use and maintenance of all mechanical and electrical equipment
·        Maintains all plant operations personnel informed in the use of hazardous materials and conducts periodic in-services for all equipment and substances used
·        Coordinates a hazardous materials program for the entire facility and works with local and state agencies to acquire permits to operate and store hazardous materials.
·        Orders supplies and equipment needed for the department
·        Assists in preparation of budget requirements for the department
·        To communicate with residents and assist them with their needs
·        Establishes departmental policies and procedures in conformance with Administrative policies
·        Develops standards for organization and supervision of the Plant Operations department
·        Works with State and Local regulatory agencies and provides project inspection for OSHPD projects
·        Conducts and directs disaster drills and maintains a record of the same
·        Chairs disaster committee and is a member of the safety committee
·        Attends professional meetings and conferences to keep informed of current practices and trends in the Plant operations field.
·        Maintains comprehensive records of the department and its activities
·        Communicates with architectural and engineering firms to make progressive improvements to the entire facility
·        Reviews architectural submittals to ensure all plans are in accordance with specifications and assists in any way possible.
·        Interviews and selects applicants for the Plant Operations department
·        Reviews work schedules for personnel and provides job performance evaluations for staff
·        Communicates with other department heads in regards to technical and administrative aspects of engineering
·        Establishes a working relationship with all departments throughout the facility and updates staff on new developments

Requirements
·        Comprehensive mechanical and electrical knowledge and a working knowledge of the trades
·        Working knowledge of Title 8, 19, 22, 24 and the NFPA codes
·        Approximately 5 years experience in a supervisory role for a hospital or equivalent
·        Excellent verbal and written communication skills
·        Technical knowledge of manuals, and architectural drawings and use these for installation and repair
·        To be available on a 24 hour a day basis
·        Good safety background
