Director, Accounting
In this position you will be responsible for the following duties:
Ensure the accuracy of financial transactions by implementing and maintaining efficient accounting systems. Develop written fiscal policies and procedures for the accounting, accounts payable and payroll department, and assure that all fiscal operations are in compliance with funding sources and all regulatory bodies. Train staff to use and implement all policies. Assist Controller in creating and maintaining internal reports and record keeping systems to ensure “trouble-free” audits. Supervise the timely and accurate processing of payroll, ensuring compliance with tax laws, tax filings and government regulations. Coordinate the preparation and submission of monthly, quarterly and year-end closeout reports of grants and contracts. Assist CFO and Controller in developing and revising annual budgets. Assist CFO and Controller in the preparation of financial statements and various reports for federal, state, city and other outside agencies. Ensure that staff is cross-trained on other duties in order to provide adequate coverage and back up as needed. Serve as backup to the Controller as the job requires.
Bachelor’s Degree (CPA preferred) from an accredited college or university with a concentration in Finance or Accounting with a minimum of 2-4 years of Accounting or Auditing experience and a minimum of 3 years experience in the management level.
Or, any combination of education and experience determined to be acceptable by the Human Resources Department.
