Development Manager

Vital Voices seeks a Development Manager to work closely with the Chair of the Board and the President to manage and conduct fundraising activities and special events. The Development Manager will work with the Board Chair and President to develop short and long-term fundraising strategies to secure support from individual donors, foundations, corporations and special events, such as an annual benefit. The Development Manager should be able to manage a wide range of projects with close attention to detail with limited supervision and be able to communicate effectively with board members, donors, and other key stakeholders.Specific Responsibilities include:

Development/Fundraising Develop fundraising materials and appeal letters; Generate thank-you letters for contributions received; Maintain funders records in database and hard copy files; Collaborate with the Finance & Administration Team on processing gifts, tracking contributions and preparing financial reports as needed; Produce updated reports on donations received from individual donors and institutional grantors; Create mailing lists for special appeals and other mailings; Research, develop, write, and submit grant proposals and funding reports for general support to corporations and foundation; Editing proposals and reports for other team members; Assist in cultivating and maintaining relationships with key corporate and individual donors; Responding to donor requests for information; Other duties as assigned.

Special Events Management Manage relationships with external vendors/consultants; Create event invitations and mailing lists; Work with graphic designers to design and print event invitations, program books and other material; Draft and coordinate the mailing of event related correspondence, including solicitations, invitations, and acknowledgement letters; Track all donations received; Recruit and train volunteers as needed; and coordinate all vendors/event arrangements; Arrange travel arrangements for participants as needed.Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, and will be conscientious, well-organized, detail-oriented, and excited about working in an expanding nonprofit with a friendly, informal, yet fast-paced environment.

 

Desired qualifications include: Minimum three years of nonprofit development experience strongly preferred; Experience in foundation and corporate funding research, grant writing and reporting; Exceptional time management, project management, and organizational skills; Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills; Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint and strong database management skills; Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and across teams; Ability to respond flexibly to unanticipated requests;
