Campaign Manager

OVERVIEW OF POSITION: Squamscott Community Commons is undertaking a major capital campaign to construct a multi-tenant nonprofit community center that will serve as new home to multiple local non-profits and the Southern District YMCA. This new facility, to be located in Exeter, will serve over 80,000 residents of the Seacoast region of New Hampshire. The full time Campaign Manager reports to the Executive Director (ED) and is a key member of the development team that will raise approximately $16 million from individual, foundation, government, and corporate sources in support of campaign objectives.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Campaign Duties

  Serves as deputy to the Executive Director on issues relating to the capital campaign; establishes strong collaboration with the Squamscott Board of Directors, YMCA Southern District Board of Directors, and capital campaign Steering Committee to achieve campaign objectives.

  Oversees overall infrastructure for campaign and manages execution of key initiatives including comprehensive communications strategy, prospect identification and cultivation, moves management, grant and foundation proposal writing, campaign-wide events program, and prospect research.

  Develops agenda issues, follows up with the ED and volunteer leadership, and manages solicitation assignments.  Supports campaign leadership by providing information and strategy guidance.

  Convenes meetings with volunteer and organizational leadership to review campaign priorities, refine campaign messaging, obtain information, and develop donor strategies.

  Works closely with Campaign Counsel on strategy and execution of campaign initiatives such as cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors, providing support to staff and committee members; overseeing the work of the Campaign Steering Committee and ensuring the success of the campaign.

 

 

Communications and Reporting

  Meets regularly with the ED, Campaign Counsel and other relevant parties to review progress towards campaign goals and assess activity and future plans.

  Writes press releases, fundraising materials, talking points and other communication tools as required in support of campaign objectives.

  Manages dissemination of campaign financial reporting, including via board presentations, committee bulletins, campaign publications, etc.

  Prepares analyses, projections, and other data related to campaign revenue, activity level, solicitation rate, etc.  Monitors progress against campaign goals, tracks campaign expenses, and helps prepare annual campaign income and expense budget projections. Serves as spokesperson for the organization, along with the ED, Board Chair and select campaign volunteers.

  Establishes and maintains good working relationships with community groups, funders, elected officials, media representatives and other relevant stakeholders to help achieve the goals of the organization

 QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

 

1.            7-10 years of experience in the Development field.

2.            Capital campaign experience essential. 

3.            First-hand experience working with volunteers (board members, subcommittees) and consultants.

4.            Superb written and oral communication abilities; excellent interpersonal skills.

5.            Ability to manage multiple projects and manage up in a fast-paced and complex environment.

6.            Superior organizational skills.  Attention to detail and high commitment to quality control and accuracy.

7.            Computer literacy: excellent facility with Microsoft Word, Excel, databases and Internet.

8.            Familiarity with Raisers Edge donor software (or similar) systems a plus.
