BENEFITS SPECIALIST
The National Automobile Dealers Association (NADA) located in McLean Virginia has an immediate opening for a Benefits Specialist. The Benefits Specialist is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of group benefit programs (group health, dental, vision, short-term and long-term disability, FMLA, worker’s compensation, life insurance, flexible spending plan, and 401(k) plan). Additional responsibilities include investigating new benefit programs, recommending improvements to existing programs, and monitoring benefit administration. This role reports to the HR project manager in executing various generalist tasks (HRIS management, online open enrollment, reporting, etc.) and serves as a back-up to the HR Assistant in his/her absence.
MAJOR DUTIES:
• Assist in the management of the benefit plan renewal process.
• Collect experience data from available resources.
• Serve as daily contact for benefits broker, plan vendors and third party administrators.
• Coordinate transfer of data to external contacts for services, premiums and audits.
• Evaluate and revise internal processes to reduce costs and increase efficiency.
• Document and maintain administrative procedures for assigned benefit processes.
• Coordinate daily benefit processing of COBRA, changes, terminations, beneficiaries, disability, and
accident and death claims.
• Oversee the processing of monthly billings and the preparation of vouchers for payment of
administrative fees for all group plans.
• Prepare, collect, and organize data for requested assessments and audits.
• Provide excellent and timely customer service support to internal and external customers.
• Assist with resolving employee benefit claim issues.
• Assists with the completion of benefit and compensation surveys.
• Develop communication tools to enhance understanding of the company’s benefits package.
• Distribute materials for benefit orientations, open enrollment and summary plan descriptions.
TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:
• Bachelor's degree and two to five years related benefits or employee benefit administration
experience or equivalent required.
• Excellent communication, organization and customer service skills are required.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment with associates.
• Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize Microsoft Office and HR
information systems. ADP experience is a plus.
• PHR and CEBS professional designations preferred.
