Assistant Vice President, Editorial Manager
As a member of the NYCEDC Marketing Department, the Editorial Manager (EM) will be responsible for the development of all marketing content across all mediums, including advertising, brochures, external websites and company intranet. This person will establish content standards & guidelines and will coordinate with business departments and project managers to ensure consistency in style, tone, and quality. He/She will collaborate with strategic, creative and technical teams and must be able to effectively coordinate across different skill sets and business departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with project teams and internal clients to create and execute compelling content strategies that support business goals for the overall company as well as individual business units Review existing materials and develop suggested plan to integrate cohesively across all mediums; develop long term plan for print and web integration needs by department/sector/initiative
§ Manage staff and editorial production schedule; provide direction for tone and type of content, assist with editing as needed; identify pool of freelancers and hire as necessary on a per project basis.
§ Edit, proofread, and copyedit all online content prior to publishing as part of workflow approval process. Maintain content accuracy and currency through regular review of internal and external websites Work with interactive marketing team to develop new online content/features and oversee search engine optimization strategy to maximize traffic to the external NYCEDC websiteManage the production of monthly print and online newslettersAttend and participate in weekly interactive, creative and content strategy meetingsDevelop content standards and create editorial style guide for companywide distribution
Qualifications:A strong project management background is required with the ability to manage multiple projects at one time and meet all deadlinesAbility to manage and motivate people Writing samples must demonstrate an understanding of the difference between writing web content, advertising copy and print collateral and the ability to easily switch between stylesWorking knowledge of content management systems and understanding of approval workflowKnowledge of Search Engine Optimization best practicesUnderstanding of industry standards and familiarity with economic development concepts, practices, and proceduresSense of humor and positive demeanor a plus
About the Marketing Department:
The Marketing Department leads the promotion of the NYCEDC brand and its programs and services through advertising, direct mail, brochures, newsletters, NYCEDC’s Web site, nycedc.com, PR outreach and at trade shows, conferences and other events. Marketing also oversees most internal communications, including newsletters and the intranet, as well as the company’s customer service function, responding to telephone and email requests.
