Assistant Camp Director
The Hole In The Wall Gang Camp is pleased to announce the job opening of Assistant Camp Director. Camp has been providing for over 20 years a phenomenal camp experience for children, teens, and families with life threatening and terminal illnesses. This position requires enthusiasm, creativity and strong management abilities. Primary Functions: To support Camp Director and to oversee all onsite programming
Job Responsibilities
Staff Development and Supervision Supervise Cabin Life, Program and Volunteer Coordinators, and Risk Management Specialist Evaluate direct reports and plan for their continued development in their positions Support direct reports and offer strong and positive leadership
Summer Program: Oversee preparation of the cabins and program areas for the summer Assist in the planning and facilitation of "Integration Day" as wall as "Senior Staff Retreat" and Staff Orientation Assist Camper Admissions with opening and closing day procedures Oversee a review of, and implement all safety procedures concerning campers and staff. This includes fire drills, lost camper drill, general emergency procedures Review camper incident/behavior reports. In collaboration with Camp Director and Camp Psychologist, decide which campers cannot return to Camp, which need behavior contracts and other such plans Consult with social workers regarding campers psych-social-emotional readiness for participation in our program Author and chronicle camper evaluations from the summer program Play the role of lead interventionist in behavioral situations on Camp and involve the Camp Director and Camp Psychologist as needed. Mange the summer staff issues and involve the Camp Director as needed. Responsible for knowing and adhering to the policies and procedures within the Camp Manual Attend conferences to enhance skills, network, and develop ideas for our program
Summer Staff Selection and Supervision Assist Camp Director in all recruitment phases for summer staff hiring; advertising, recruiting, interviewing, selection, orientation, and supervision Assist in planning and facilitating staff orientation and pre-camp certification training Coordinate all staff care and support programs Attend all Staff meetings Coordinate all cabin staff and cabin volunteer evaluations Training Leadership Team before each summer in therapeutic crisis intervention.
Facilitate Weekend Programs Plan and coordinate all on Camp weekend programs including but not limited to: Camper Weekends, Family Weekends, Care-Giver Weekends, Parent Weekends Oversee recruitment and organization of all volunteers and staff for each weekend program Work with the Navigation Team in coordinating Camp's holiday party Perform other duties as assigned
Supervisor(s) Camp Director Requests to assist in speaking engagements, tours, party prep/cleanup may be initiated by other staff
