Accountant Supervisor

Union Settlement Association, one of the largest settlement houses in New York, serves more than 13,000 people of all ages each year.  For 113 years, Union Settlement has served the people of East Harlem.

Requirements:

Five year or more experience in managing a finance office of a not-for- profit organization. Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Strong supervision skills, Implementation of program budgets through finance system, Knowledge of MAS90, Microsoft office. Excellent writing/communication skills, Bachelor's Degree in Finance or accounting.  Associate with three more years experience.  Salary open.

Responsibilities:

Daily supervision of accounting staff, annual evaluation to be performed, maintenance and the adherence (to accountants under your supervision) to agency's system of internal accounting controls, personnel and fiscal policies.  Set accountants work schedule including time and leave request.  Assist with any revision and updates to fiscal policies.  Monitor budget spending of restricted contracts.  review and assit with the preparation of government reporting vouchers, prepare mid-year and year end projections, Review daily cash accounts for accuracy, prepare adjusting journals where appropriate. Cross training of accounting staff for optimum performance of finance dept.
