Product Metallurgist

 



 

Allvac, an Allegheny Technologies Company, is an acknowledged leader in the production of specialty alloys, both titanium and nickel, for the aerospace industry. There are positions available for Product Metallurgist at the Nickel Superalloy Plant in Monroe (Charlotte), NC. The Monroe Plant is focused on vacuum melting and forging of superalloy billet.  It is one of the seven major Allvac production plants. 

 

Allvac is focused on Continuous Improvement.  We use Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing and Statistical Process Control methodologies to improve our processes.  We are a data-driven company.  We also use analytical modeling to support our technologies. In any case, the work is hands-on, and the pace is fast. 

 

Job Duties:  Work closely with internal and external customers to meet specification requirements while maintaining low defect rates and driving Continuous Improvement.  Develop and implement robust manufacturing processes based on sound metallurgical principles.  Support expansion efforts by ensuring new equipment is integrated into the production environment while verifying process capability and obtaining customer approval.  The candidate must possess a hands-on approach and be able to work in a team environment in a production setting.

 

Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgy or related discipline.  Those with an advanced degree and professional experience are encouraged to apply.  Salary will be commensurate with experience level.
