Procurement Specialist

Company Description:
Sims Metal Management (SMM), the world’s leading metal recycling company, has an immediate opening for an experienced Procurement Specialist at its Central Region headquarters in Burr Ridge, Illinois.

Position Description:
*Issue purchase orders within internal procurement system
*Prepare reports and cost benefit analysis for mgmt. review and approval
*Assist in the development and review of RFQ’s and RFP’s, contracts, and contract renewals
*Negotiations as it relates to pricing, contracts, and support
*Administer the bid/proposal process
*Identify and ensure process improvement in supplier performance and admin processes to improve accuracy, lead times, and improved efficiency of operations
*Communicate and apply standard processes and terminology as it relates to negotiations, etc
*Participate in interdepartmental cross functional teams
*Interact with Operations’ Managers to assess and forecast field requirements
*Assist in the development of new policies/procedures
*Administer internal process improvement for increased efficiency purposes
*Supplier management

Experience/Requirements:
*2-3 years of Purchasing/Procurement experience in the manufacturing industry
*Bachelor’s degree required
*Must possess strong organizational, analytical, written & verbal communication skills
*Ability to negotiate, work independently and multitask
*Strong team member
*Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel)
