Plant Human Resources Manager

This position is located in our Lorain, Ohio operations - Republic's largest integrated mill with over 1100 employees - and will be responsible for providing leadership and direction in the areas of labor relations and HR generalist activities. This includes providing counsel, guidance and training for operational managers and staff in matters pertaining to plant wide employee relations and labor relations activities guided by the labor agreement, policy, procedures and employment law legislation; administering and ensuring adherence to the collective bargaining agreement; supervising the plant HR/Labor Relations staff; representing management in arbitrations, hearings and mediations; managing and coordinating employee relations activities including recruiting, hiring, performance management, training and development programs; promoting a team environment; and working with corporate HR to accomplish position responsibilities and company / functional objectives.
Job Requirements:
Qualified candidates will possess at minimum, a bachelor's degree in labor / industrial relations, human resources or related field of study. Master's degree, Labor Relations or Human Resources certification highly desired. The candidate must demonstrate 5+ years progressive Human Resources management experience including a solid Labor Relations background in an active union environment. Industry experience in steel or related heavy manufacturing is required.
Candidates must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills; the ability to interact with internal and external customers at all levels; the ability to discretely handle sensitive and confidential issues and function as team player. Strong computer skills are mandatory for this position.
