Saybolt, a Core Laboratories Reservoir Description Division, is a world leader in the characterization and measurement of crude oils, oil products, and chemicals from reservoir to end user.  Saybolt clients and partners include major oil and chemical companies, traders, shippers and buyers and insurance interests.

 

Saybolt currently has a position open for Petroleum Inspector and a position for Petroleum Inspector III in their Gulf Coast and Central Alabama and Mississippi areas.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Read and understand all job and safety requirements in English. Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks, barges and ships including entering confined spaces. Verify the accuracy of measurement equipment. Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials as defined in the appropriate Material Safety Data Sheets. Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; perform inventories; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments. Perform other inspection department duties assigned by the Manager or Scheduler. Exercise procedural, safety and quality requirements specified in Saybolt procedures manuals, the Saybolt Safety Manual, the Core Laboratories Safety and Environmental Manual, and Core Laboratories / Saybolt company policies. Attend training and pass appropriate examinations in petroleum, chemical and gas inspection procedures, including Right-to-Know training, hazardous materials transportation, and other safety training required by applicable regulations. Attend training in basic laboratory testing procedures as directed.

 

Responsibilities: Read and understand all job and safety requirements in English. Perform visual cleanliness inspections of tanks including entering confined spaces. Work safely in the presence of hazardous materials. Take product measurements and samples; accurately and promptly perform related calculations; complete required reports and forms clearly and promptly; do non-petroleum or chemical inspection assignments, 24-hour on call. Required to stand for extended periods. Must be able to climb storage tank ladders and stairs, typically 25 to 80 feet high, as required for any job assignment while carrying 30 lb. of samples and/or inspection-related gear or equipment. Must be able to climb vessel gangways, ladders, Jacob’s ladders and stairs.

 

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: A high school graduate or equivalent,   three months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.   For the Inspector III position one year experience preferred.
