Director, Global Benefits
PURPOSE:
Direct responsibility for designing and managing global benefits strategy and program based on business objectives, market trends and competitive practice.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
§ Lead the benefit strategy efforts with internal stakeholders and vendor(s) to identify, create and implement benefit plan designs to achieve Newmont’s objective to attract and retain employees.
§ Sets global benefits systems, standards and processes to create business efficiencies; capture global synergy, scale and coordination
§ Prepare and present benefit program changes for approval after researching trends, soliciting benchmark data, reviewing options, and completing costing analysis to address population needs and business challenges.
§ Build project plans to include change management and communications for benefit program shifts, additions or deletions.
§ Consult on design of benefit plans for new geographies and integration of new entities after mergers and acquisitions.
§ Develop and monitor benefits dashboard for the organization.
§ Participate in vendor selection and contract negotiation process as well as ongoing vendor management.
§ Participate in union negotiations by providing cost information, technical assistance, communications materials and various plan design options.
§ Lead corporate benefits team; plan, assign, and evaluate work; hire and train staff as necessary.
§ Complete various special projects and activities that are required.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
§ The position is located in the Denver corporate office.
§ Position is required to travel to, and assist other domestic and international sites.
TRAINING & EXPERIENCE:
§ Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or other related field of expertise; years of experience can be substituted for a degree.
§ Minimum 5 to 10 years of general Human Resources experience including Compensation, Employee Benefits, Employee Relations, Labor Relations, and International HR Management.
§ Competent in Microsoft Office Applications: Excel, Access, Word, Power Point, and Outlook.
§ Understanding of the various cultures, operations and personnel of an international organization in order to develop business relationships and complete assigned work.
§ Ability to manage multiple programs, plans and projects is imperative.
§ Effective oral and written communication skills for presentations to Senior Executives.
§ Working knowledge of the rules, regulations and laws pertaining to the design and implementation of benefit plans and programs.
§ Basic knowledge of actuarial terminology and applications.
