Our client is a public company and a leader in its industry for the past fifty plus years.  The parent company is a known brand worldwide with several operating business divisions.  Our client generates revenues via several business interests which together compliment one another.  Annual revenues are greater than $200 million.

 

The Location

 

The position is located in Texas.  The exact location will be discussed with final candidates.

 

Position Summary

 

The position reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.  The position is responsible for all aspects of general accounting for the entire company.  The company stock is traded on the New York Stock Exchange.  Duties include general accounting, cost accounting, business unit accounting support and accounts payable.  The staff is roughly 12-14 individuals working with business clients nationally.

Key Responsibilities and Duties

 Effectively provide leadership to the general accounting staff.  Provide development plans to all employees by assessing individual skills and competencies.Ensure clear communications across departmental teams by effectively managing relationships with business operations.Coordination of the monthly close process by ensuring timely and accurate closing of the general ledger.Preparation and analysis of key management reports related to business performance.Responsible for maintaining a strong system of internal controls and processes.Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.Provide support and analysis to achieve financial reporting requirements.  Direct interaction with senior leadership with the organization.Responsible for continued accounting process improvement.Serve as a key team member on corporate projects.Review applicable accounting guidance and prepare analysis on the accounting treatment of new standards and pronouncements.Review all proposed joint venture agreements and document the appropriate accounting treatment.Work closely with partners to ensure accuracy of joint venture financial statements.Coordination and support of all internal and external audits as it relates to the general accounting function.Very strong oral and written communication skills.

 

Required Experience

 At least ten years’ of relevant experience, including at least five yearSof management.Extensive knowledge and experience with GAAP and SEC accounting requirements.MS Office expert.JD Edwards experience preferred.Industry experience preferred.

 

Education

 BS AccountingCPA certification.
