Wound Care Specialist

COVIDIEN, a world leader in disposable medical devices, has an immediate opening for a Wound Care Specialist for the Clinical Care Division in the Northeast territory. MAJOR FUNCTIONS:• Provision of technical, clinical and educational support to the Covidien Patient Care Acute Care, Alternate Site and Veterinary sales organizations for the promotion of Covidien Wound Care products.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:• To increase and promote the sales of the Covidien Wound Care product line to the Acute Care, Alternate Site and Veterinary markets by assisting the field organization on sales calls, product evaluations and providing educational inservices.• Generate leads independent of those identified by the Account Representative through direct customer contact.• Train customers, including end-users and clinicians in the proper use of the Covidien Wound Care product line to maximize compliance, customer satisfaction and retention.• Assist the Acute Care, Alternate Site and Veterinary Account Representatives in coordinating and monitoring product evaluations as determined by the Wound Care Specialists and Regional Manager.• Collaborate with Marketing in the development of case studies, protocols and product evaluations which will be used to develop sales tools, and submitted for presentations at national conventions, and in professional events.• Participate in approved seminars, workshops and conventions exhibit activities.• Educate end-users, and clinicians in wound healing concepts/trends.• Conduct field staff training at regional and national levels.• Communicate to Marketing and Sales Management on any Wound Care industry trends, including competition, applications and reimbursement.• Collaborate with Marketing in the development of circulars, brochures, sales programs, sales tools and value added service programs.• Provide marketing consultation in the development of new products.• Maintain current knowledge base on the prevention and treatment of wounds through attendance of educational programs/seminars/conferences; reading journals and participating in committee or group programs.RELATIONSHIPS:• Promote a team approach through coordination of the efforts of all Wound Care Specialists with the field, Marketing, Professional Education, Research & Development and Covidien Health Systems.SUPERVISION:• Field staff developmentSCOPE AND IMPACT:• Effectively strengthen sales by coaching and motivating the teamwork of the sales force to improve the position of Covidien Wound Care.FUNCTIONAL GUIDANCE:Functional guidance is provided to:Kendall CustomersKendall Field Sales and Management OrganizationRequirements: KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:Case Study DevelopmentGeneral AdministrationTerritory ManagementComputer SkillsThorough Product KnowledgeWound & Skin Science/TrendsProduct EvaluationSalesWritten/Verbal CommunicationsCompetitive ProductsClinical StudiesPROBLEM-SOLVING REQUIREMENTS:Customer Objections/NeedsMaximize Product Utilization and OutcomesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:Education: Minimum - Registered Nurse with BSN degree, but required to fulfill WOCN certificationPreferred - WOCN Board Certified Wound Care Specialist (ET Nurse)SPECIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS:Effective interpersonal skillsStrong communication skills - written and oral.Detail oriented and highly organizedAbility to handle multiple projectsAbility to travel•These are difficult positions to fill because the candidates need to be an RN and be wound care certified.
