Position Description:
This position is independently responsible for major portions of complex projects.Specifically, this position will provide electrical design for new/improved medical devices for the Patient Care segment of MEDRAD's Magnetic Resonance product line (patient monitors, infusion pumps, networks, etc.). The individual will be a member of a cross-functional project team and will report to a Project Manager or Chief/Lead Engineer.He/she will create new electrical designs and solve system-level to component-level design issues; many requiring significant cross-functional expertise in embedded electronics and firmware. Additionally, the role will be responsible for demonstrating leadership and mentoring for junior engineers, designers, and technicians, as well as coordinating activities with the project's other functional areas as necessary. The incumbent will be expected to personally participate in all phases of the development process ranging from concept development to analysis through supplier interaction and implementation. Primary Responsibilities:1. Performs concept to release-ready electrical designs including microprocessors, analog circuits, digital logic, and/or power supplies.2. Generates firmware as required to debug hardware designs, facilitate handoff to dedicated software engineers, and/or complete development of smaller firmware designs.3. Works closely with in-house or contract circuit board designers to implement low-emissions designs compatible with harsh electromagnetic environments.4. Provides significant technical input to overall system design, works closely with suppliers and development partners to meet customer needs.5. Defines requirements for design elements at the module level.6. Responsible for design and integration of high complexity design elements and modules.7. Applies understanding of product line and clinical applications to develop product or process functionality. 8. Interacts with multiple customer groups including end-users.9. Understands interdependencies of processes required to accomplish individual and team objectives.Technical / Behavioral Requirements: 1. Minimum 4 years experience in design and development of embedded systems, including hardware and firmware required2. Experience in embedded device circuit design, PCB layout review, prototyping, programming, test/debug, and documentation required3. Experience in medical device design, biomedical engineering, low power device design, wireless communications, and/or signal conditioning is preferred.4. Recommended 7+ years experience and recognized as an expert within a technical discipline, with knowledge across breadth of discipline and significant depth in one or more technical specialties.5. Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree recommended. 6. Proven to have general engineering knowledge crossing into other technical disciplines.7. Proven ability to demonstrate skill in both analysis of complex problems and synthesis of solutions.8. Proven ability to uses a blend of theoretical and experimental concepts for solutions.9. Proven ability to demonstrate excellent judgment in technical trade-offs and analyses.10. Working knowledge and proven skills of PC computer operating system including Microsoft office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).11. Strong competency in Customer Focus, Driving for Results, Integrity and Trust, Ethics and Values and Compassion. 12. Proven ability to demonstrate at minimum, MEDRAD’s Supervisor competencies: Decision Quality, Developing Direct Repots, Motivating Others, Managerial Courage and Business Acumen.
