What R & D Engineering contributes to Cardinal Health
Research and Development Engineering is responsible for developing and implementing new products through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering and documentation practices. Builds components, devices or models or adapts standard equipment.  Fabricates test fixtures and prototype models.  Conducts tests or experiments, which may require modifications in test set-ups or procedures.  Selects, set-up and operates standard test equipment and records test results.  May develop test methods and procedures for testing and inspecting components and assemblies.  Assists project engineer in equipment design, development, set-up and testing.  Assists in equipment/process validations and maintains accurate equipment documentation in accordance with regulatory requirements.  Works with manufacturing, engineering and other groups to resolve product/process problems and help implement changes.  Troubleshoots, tests, and corrects malfunctions in components, devices, models or equipment.  May train production personnel, maintenance mechanics and/or other technicians in the use of equipment.


What is expected of you for success in your role Demonstrates specialized understanding of complex mechanical systems and test methodologies Fabricates and modifies components using a wide variety of tools and techniques Assembles complex systems with minimal supervision Researches and proposes lab test equipment Provides assistance to others Executes pre-defined, complex protocols or experiments with minimal supervision Sets up data acquisition or measurement equipment to automatically capture test data in electronic format (i.e., excel). Performs complex statistical analysis of results Performs root cause analysis, documents results and proposes solution with supervision

Qualifications


 Associate's degree or equivalent experience in related field required Knowledge of FDA/GMP regulations and previous work experience in a medical device industry is desired Must have demonstrated ability to perform work, which involves conventional practice for engineering technicians at the mid-level to senior level technician Skilled in the use of standard laboratory and shop equipment such as multimeters, drill press, electric hand-tools, etc. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office SolidWorks skills preferred
