Job Summary:Working without appreciable supervision, is responsible for providing mechanical engineering support to the Bradycardia or Tachycardia Leads manufacturing operations. Identifies, develops and implements efficient, value added and cost effective process improvements. Supports both current (sustaining) Leads manufacturing and interacts with development focusing on DFM (Design for Manufacturability). Work requires the application of theoretical principles and creative/analytical techniques typically acquired in a recognized four-year or more academic course of study. Applies advanced engineering and scientific principles to the evaluation and solution of technical problems. Initiates the planning, organizing, performing, coordinating and/or directing of engineering work. Performs engineering studies. Works with all aspects of Leads manufacturing: concept, development, processes/training/documentation, regulatory compliance, product/process qualification, product disposition, and CAPA (Corrective And Preventative Action). Represents manufacturability interests as part of technical project teams. Remains abreast of and consults on technical advancements. Identifies and routinely uses the most effective, cost efficient and best practices to execute processes; continually evaluates their effectiveness and appropriateness. Is cognizant of the business need driving projects and adapts project strategic input to suit. Typical Activities· Dispositioning discrepant product· Interacting with Vendors (Tooling, Components, and Vendor Process Changes)· Materials Review Board (MRB) Participation· Change Control Boad (CCB) Participation· CAPA Assessment and Implementation· Tooling Design· Process Design and Improvement· Mentoring (specific to Sr. Engineers)· Technical Writing (Manufacturing documents and reports)· Providing Guidance on Manufacturability· Process Validation and Verification· Training of Production Staff· Performing Bench Testing· Risk Assessment & FMEA Participation· Data Analysis including Statistical methods· Engineering Change Order (ECO) initiation and follow through Desired Skill Set· BS/MS in Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering· Strong mechanical aptitude, will get hands dirty· Ability to design tooling· Medical device manufacturing experience· Six-sigma training (solid statistical understanding)· Ability to work in fast-paced environment· Knowledge of quality systems· Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to CRM· Ability to schedule and meet deadlines· Ability to successfully work with all levels/types of employees· Ability to present technical ideas orally and written· Ability to take ownership in a project and complete it· Understanding of Regulatory process· Competent in Risk Assessment· Advanced credential in a relevant discipline/concentration· Professional certification or designation. · Experience with assembly documentation and configuration control· Experience in any of the following key processes: laser welding, crimping, heat shrinking, silicone adhesive bonding, polymer cutting, tooling automation, mistake proofing, statistical process control, lean, six sigma.
