Sr. Mechanical Engineering Technician, R&D

The Opportunity:

You will assist engineers in the design, manufacture, and testing of next-generation cardiovascular implants and catheter delivery systems.

 

Your Responsibilities: Work under the direction of engineering staff with minimal supervision. Conceptualize, design, document, and/or implement test methods and fixtures for characterization and/or validation of design attributes. Fabrication and process improvement for components and finished assemblies in support of prototyping and pilot-production activities. Provide design input based on bench evaluation and fabrication experiences. Maintain and organize lab.  Track all inventory and lab equipment purchases.  Execute installation qualifications for newly procured equipment. Suggest ideas/actions to improve laboratory equipment, output and atmosphere.  Maintain appropriate lab notebook and other records in accordance with FDA and Arsenal standards. Create and/or modify solid model and CAD drawings. Work closely with outside vendors/suppliers to ensure timely and accurate component delivery.



Your Background/Skills: Associates degree in engineering or equivalent experience. 3-5 years in a medical device R&D environment. Experience and knowledge of manufacturing processes and techniques for plastic and metal part assembly. Working knowledge of mechanical test methods and product inspection techniques. Ability to maintain, troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electromechanical equipment. Demonstrated proficiency in creating and modifying drawing files using SolidWorks or equivalent.  Knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing preferred. Computer skills including word processing, spreadsheet and test software. Ability to take direction, work independently, manage time, and effectively interact with various groups and personnel.
