Software Designer
Manufacturer of Health Communications equipment is seeking a key software design professional to work in its very active engineering department. The software designer will work on PC, web, and embedded applications, using a variety of programming languages as required. He/she will function in a diverse team environment with other programmers, hardware development staff, and engineering technicians, to produce highly reliable and maintainable products. The key team member will also participate in and have responsibility for planning, documenting, and reviewing projects to ensure timely delivery and well-controlled project outputs.

Developers have a unique opportunity to work in a flexible and challenging environment in which they can grow in both breadth and depth as a developer. The wide and growing variety of active projects provide for opportunities to put into practice theory from much of the Computer Science field.

Responsibilities include:
 A variety of code development including embedded systems, GUI construction, database design, and web applications Specification review and/or generation from design input Task assessment and scheduling Support for literature development, manufacturing needs, and product/field support Presentation of ideas and proposals as needed Contributions to innovation program

Education and skills needed:
Â
·        BS or MS in Computer Science
·       Experience in one or more of the following highly desired:
·       Distributed systems
·       Embedded systems
·       GUI construction
·       Database design
·       Web applications
·       Familiarity with several of the following would be immediately beneficial:
·       C/C++, Python, Ruby, SQL, TCP/UDP, socket API
·       Attention to detail
·       Ability to work in a team
·       Ability to learn new programming languages and apply them as needed

Familiarity with any of the following would be respected and encouraged:
Common Lisp, Scheme, Erlang, Haskell, Prolog
