Summary:
Design, develop, and implement tools and fixtures to make quality and efficiency improvements to all ArthroCare lines of products, and support process improvements in ArthroCare offsite manufacturing facilities. May support other Tooling Engineers on development projects.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to: (Other duties may be assigned)
Responsible for designing, developing and implementing tools, equipment and fixtures within defined budgets and timelines to support new product development and products released to manufacturing.Responsible for the manufacturability and inspection requirements of tool designs.Responsible for interacting with Sunnyvale Machine Shop and outside vendors and suppliers for equipment, tool and fixture quotation, development, and production.Responsible for drawings and other documentation for the release and maintenance of fixtures to manufacturing.Responsible for identifying opportunities to provide better fixtures and tools and for developing and transferring technology and processes to Process Development, Process Engineering and ArthroCare manufacturing facilities.Responsible for execution of equipment, tool and fixture validation and re-validation.Responsible for the ergonomic and R&R of the tool/fixture designs.Provide continuous engineering support on existing equipment, tools and fixtures to maintain and improve performance and quality.Train and support Manufacturing Engineers in maintenance and upgrade of fixtures used in manufacturing.Support automation group in development of automation equipment and systemsResponsible for identifying, developing and transferring technology and processes to Process Development, Process Engineering, and our manufacturing facility.Ensure compliance with ArthroCare quality system and all relevant internal procedures and policies, including but not limited to ECN, NCR, CPR, BOM, RTE, MPI, and DOP.Ensure compliance to all applicable regulations and regulatory filing, as they impact product and process development.
Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience: B.S. degree in Engineering, Mechanical preferred. 4-7 years in related field, or 3-5 years with an M.S. Two years work experience with Equipment, Fixture and Tool design.Mechanical Engineering degree and experience in medical and surgical devices, and implantable biomaterials.Excellent communication skills, complex problem solving skills. Good knowledge of MS Office Suite and MS project Process improvement and manufacturing engineering and documentation skills. Knowledge of machining and inspection fundamentals.Good knowledge in SolidWorks
