PURPOSE: We are looking for a mechanical engineer to work on medical product development within our San Jose Design Center. Our design center’s main focus is medical products, so the candidate should have appropriate experience with both part creation and medical design processes (desirable). The focus applications are In-Vitro-Diagnostic, Drug-Delivery-Devices and Communications. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Our product development group requires an experienced mechanical engineer to focus on core design activities. This includes the creation of mechanical specifications, CAD development, and design for high volume manufacturing. Engineer will lead the mechanical design of projects and may direct other designers to meet team goals. Responsibilities begin at product concept and end at product transfer. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will: Meet product requirements for performance and cost. Contribute to the mechanical portions of risk analyses. Work in cross functional teams with Industrial Design, Electrical Engineering and Software Development. Lead mechanical project teams and direct/mentor junior engineers. Design and direct the fabrication, testing, verification, and validation of engineering prototypes. Transfer product from design engineering to manufacturing using the proper design controls. Support design documentation requirements (both Flextronics internal and customers). Follow internal medical design processes. Job Requirements: Mechanical Engineering Skills: BSME with 8-10 years of experience, with at least 2 in medical products. Experience with high volume processes such as plastic injection molding and sheet metal stamping. Participation in a full product life cycle. Experience in a medical design controls environment (ISO13485). Proficiency with CAD tools, Pro/Engineer Wildfire and/or Solid Works. Experience with GD&T and DFM. Knowledge of precision mechanics including motors, actuators, encoders. Fluidic systems experience is a plus. General Skills: Strong leadership and teamwork . Good communication skills. Good attitude in facing end customers . Very flexible and motivated. High level of commitment to the success of a project. Able to lead project feasibility tasks, where product specifications are not defined yet and subject to changes.
