Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Medical Device
MicroVention is a rapidly growing medical device company that is pioneering the development of catheter-based technologies for the endovascular treatment of peripheral and cerebral vascular diseases. The company is focused on proprietary technologies that provide therapeutic advantages for cerebral aneurysm treatment in a minimally invasive platform.
MicroVention is currently marketing two families of products: MicroPlex™ Coil System and the HydroCoil® Embolic System, its next-generation endovascular coil system. Recently launched in early 2004 were the MicroPlex XT, a unique stretch-resistant and conformal platinum coil, and the HydroCoil 10 Embolic System, a stretch-resistant and highly flexible coil for small aneurysms.
Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, California Microvention products are sold through their direct sales force in the U.S., Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom and through distributors worldwide.
Scope:
Supports development of products for medical device with work including writing or verifying specifications, maintaining product process, designing fixtures, test processes, equipment and raw materials to ensure the concepts and/or prototypes meet their requirements.
Responsibilities:
1. Design and development of manufacturing processes for new products, product changes and enhancements, as well as related tooling and fixtures
2. Supports validation of product, equipment and processes
3. Interfaces with other departments to solve production problems
4. Monitor equipment maintenance program
5. Investigation and testing of product processes
6. Support prototype and pilot production, facilities and planning when appropriate
Skills:
1. Reading and preparing technical documentation
2. Working knowledge of standard machine shop equipment and process
3. Knowledge of medical and technical development
4. Computer skills including Word, Excel, Statistical Software and Solid Modeling Software
5. Ability to diagnose and repair electrical malfunctions on process tools and equipment
Requisite Experience:
1. Degree in related field or equivalent
2. 5 years related experience in medical device industry
3. Good communication skills
