Senior E/M Engineering Technician - Manufacturing

POSITION SUMMARY

Performs non-routine and complex technical testing and evaluation work requiring expertise in all aspects of QA, R&D, and Operations work for both divisions. Performs work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection and substantial adaptation of standard techniques, procedures and criteria. Devises new approaches to non-routine problems as encountered. Plans and conducts complete projects of limited scope or portions of larger projects.  Provides guidance, training and expertise to lower level engineering technicians within and outside the department.  Works with vendors and internal departments to resolve various issues, coordinate work, and contribute toward project and organizational objectives. Tracks retention samples company wide. Supports production and Quality Control with varying assignments ranging from; Fixture design and validation, Drafting engineering documents to support line engineer, Electronics and product triage, product/process evaluation and testing, FAI’s, and complaint analysis. Also, assists with maintaining calibration of department equipment.

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

· Two-year Vo-Tech Certificate in Manufacturing, Electronics, Mechanical, or Electro-mechanical discipline or related technical field and ten years progressive experience as an engineering technician in medical device organization. High School diploma or equivalent and fourteen years progressive experience as an engineering technician within a medical organization also meets minimum requirements.

· This is the fifth-step position along the engineering technician career path.  To qualify for internal promotion, the most recent annual performance appraisal as an Engineering Technician III must be at "Exceeds Position Requirements" level, or above.

 

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES AND SKILLS

· Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and mechanical drawings.

· Possesses and applies technical expertise of principles, practices, and procedures in engineering technology, as well as competency in related specialty areas within the department.

· Knowledge is evidenced by breath of experience, previous job progressions, accomplishments, project coordination skills, and performance levels.

· Ability to lead projects of limited scope and impact or portions of a major project.

· Draft, follow & meet schedules.

· Uses judgment in the planning, scheduling and coordinating of project phases and resources, as well as the selection of techniques and criteria. 

· Strong analytical and problem solving skills required. 

· Ability to guide project team members in troubleshooting and carrying out project-related activities.

· Ability to produce clear and concise verbal and written communication.

· Knowledge and skill in manufacturing engineering record keeping procedures, methods and project coordination, with the ability to rapidly master Deltec internal procedures and methods.

· Depth of knowledge of SOPs, GMP/ISO 9000, etc., principles and practices in a medical device manufacturing environment; proven skill in integrating into manufacturing engineering discipline.

· Ability to coordinate and lead other technicians in project team activities in an effective and efficient manner.

· Ability to perform statistical analysis to solve manufacturing problems.

· Ability to interact effectively with production and engineering personnel.

· Ability to design electrical and mechanical fixtureing and develop work instructions for use as well as validation protocals.

· Troubleshooting skill to diagnose problems with pump manufacturing product.

· Ability to clearly compile records and test data to support engineering project activities.

· Knowledge of personal computers and ability to use software for word processing (Microsoft Word) and spreadsheets (Excel).

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds through a wide range of standing positions.
