Patent Counsel III Position Description Provide legal expertise in the areas of patents and intellectual property to provide direction and guidance that furthers overall company business.  Scope of work includes patent application preparation and prosecution, review of new products for patent clearance, leading the invention disclosure review process, formulating patent strategies, training and education of company personnel on intellectual property matters, licensing, litigation support and guidance on best practice.  Work with other in-house counsel to provide positive short and long term business results for the company.  Work with other departments to create and sustain a favorable intellectual property position. Position Responsibilities 1. Prepare and prosecute U.S. patent applications. 2. Manage outside counsel in preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications. 3. Manage the approval of product release clearance as it pertains to patents and intellectual property. 4. Negotiate patent license agreements. 5. Train and educate on inventing, patenting and IP asset management. 6. Support patent litigation 7. Assist with the integration of new technologies. 8. Advise R&D on focus of R & D projects based on intellectual property strategy. 9. Provide general guidance and act as a company subject matter expert on patents and intellectual property. 10. Work with patent tracking software and process mapping for patents. 11. Perform other related duties as assigned. Basic Qualifications * JD from a nationally recognized law school with strong academic credentials. * Registration to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.   * Current member or ability to become a member of the WA Bar. * 4 years experience in patent disciplines. * Demonstrated abilities as a skilled communicator to diverse audiences. * Possess excellent judgment. * Demonstrated strong analytical thinking ability. * Proven experience in working on multiple projects simultaneously. * Possess the ability to work in an autonomous environment. * Direct experience with intellectual property legal counseling Desired/Preferred Qualifications * 8 years experience in patent disciplines.
