MECHANICAL ENGINEERING PROJECT MANAGER
With a bachelor's degree in a mechanical or industrial engineering discipline or equivalent, 10+ years in related manufacturing engineering with high-speed automation and operational understanding in PLC programming, servo systems and vision systems, the successful candidate will provide engineering support to the manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting for downed equipment and process issues through manufacturing escalation procedures (across all shifts).
Specifically, it is the responsibility of this position to:
• Optimize manufacturing systems, and identify and implement improvements to enhance the performance and quality of existing equipment, processes, and products.
• Drive production and cost data collection initiatives throughout the manufacturing business units, and to utilize data analysis methodologies to identify cost reduction and productivity improvement strategies in support of manufacturing strategic goals.
• Develop, execute and follow through with effective project management plans, which clearly identify the scope, timelines and resources for key project activities.
• Support capital equipment appropriations to include specification development, vendor selection, negotiation, and management.
• Identify and facilitate skill sets and services (internal and external) capable of providing support to the manufacturing operations as required in a time effective manner.
• Prepare and process documentation to include specification changes, change request forms, deviations, standard operating procedures, and standard test methods.
• Develop and execute equipment installation, process, product and computer system validations.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications include:
• Experience in manufacturing equipment design and/or plastics tooling design engineering.
• Strong understanding of analytical problem solving methodologies (e.g. Process Mapping, Cause & Effects, FMEA, etc.).
• Basic understanding of Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing methodologies and of manufacturing financial measures and systems.
• Excellent leadership, project management, written/verbal communication, and analytical skills.
• Excellent equipment troubleshooting and production system analysis skills, specific to mechanical system solutions
• Proficient computer skills, including MS Windows, MS Office applications, MS Project), AutoCad, Solid Edge or Solid Works CAD; working knowledge of statistical software a plus(e.g. Minitab).
• Knowledge of various manufacturing practices (e.g. Continuous Flow, Just-in-Time, TPM).
