Position Scope/Summary This position is responsible for the safe, efficient operation of machines and equipment, required to perform the various production procedures. This person will be required to undergo “on the job training” and subsequent certification to all of the procedures pertinent to their specific assigned job level. A Machine Operator, will be required to operate various fabricating equipment used to perform the following procedures: Cutoff, blanking, forming, shearing, rolling, welding, assembling or staking of metal strip stock, sheet metal, wire or prefabricated components and the Roto-blasting of sheet metal, wire or prefabricated components, as well as hand assembly of components to produce a finished product. This person will be trained to operate some or all of the following machines, automatic power presses, single stroke mechanical power presses, single stroke air presses, hand operated presses, injection mold machines, manual and automatic chamfering machines, belt sander, spot welder, hand operated rolling machine, hinge assembly machine, and bead blasting equipment. Key Result Accountabilities Ability to read, understand and verbally explain work instructions for assigned area Responsible for obtaining Quality Assurance Approval via the set-up approval first-article inspection form prior to beginning any production runs. Operate any machine or perform any operation requested to produce quality parts at or above quoted standard production rates. Responsible for reporting any suspected machine malfunctions or problems in the manufacturing process to the immediate supervisor of the area in which he/she is working. Responsible for First Line inspection/insuring that all parts produced are made to print specs or expected standards as defined by the Q.A. Responsible for safety and cleanliness of the work area assigned. Accurate reporting of hours worked and pieces produced by work order number in system. Responsible for following material requisitioning procedure to move all raw materials and work in process materials. Responsible for following all lot control procedures as defined by Q.A. Capable of using precision measuring equipment such as calipers and micrometers. Reads work order packet to determine machine, part, quality, packaging, lot control or any other requirements for the job. Observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction. Measures work piece dimensions to determine accuracy of machine operation and parts produced. Performs minor machine maintenance such as cleaning and oiling machines, and processes manufactured parts by stacking, marking, packing. Complies with work rules including those pertaining to safety, health, Quality System, and the Accellent Quality Management System. Overtime as required. Environmental Working Conditions The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
